Fall on me

This installation done by Mr. Stipe at the Rogan vs. Stipe party looks great. For some reason I find myself really liking piles of boxs and the things people do with them, it looks cool. I saw an office that somebody had set up only using fedEx boxes and it was rad. This cascading box pile filters down, through, and out of the window onto the sidewalk. It looks cool, thats it. Gunning For That #1 Spot

The NBA Draft went down last night, I’m kind of sad the Sonics didn’t trade up to get OJ but I’m happy with Westbrook. Anyways, it reminded me of this trailer I’d seen earlier this month; Gunning for that #1 Spot. It’s about the legendary Rucker Park and it’s directed by MCA aka Adam Yauch, one third of the Beastie Boys. As it turns out it hits select theatres tonight! I can’t wait till it comes north of the border, scheme scheme plot plot…

p.s. I’ve decided that Vimeo>youtube

Carlsberg dream house.

I’m going to continue on with the video dumping trend that I’ve created on this blog… I love soccer and the European Cup. This is easily the best commercial I’ve seen watching it, although the one on TV isn’t the Irish version like this one.

Chris Bosh is funny

I always thought Bosh was a bit of a dud seeing post-game interviews with him and him with Cabbie. But I guess he’s actually got a good dry sense of humour.

Kanye on: Ice T vs Soulja boy

Kanye weighed in with his opinion (or at least I think its his) on this ‘beef’ between the 50 yr old Ice T and the 17 yr old Soulja boy. While I think webcam arguments are probably the worst thing to ever happen to the world, Kanye actually managed to come up with something semi insightful:

“He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song.  He had all of America rapping this summer.  If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is?  A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit?….

Keep this shit fresh and original…. ain’t no fuckin’ rules to this shit and that’s what real hip hop is to me.”

oh and if you want to laugh pretty hard, watch my favourite soulja boy video.

Dior Homme: Edward Scissorhands Collection

I’m not sure…But I think I might know where the inspiration came from for the new Dior Homme line. Edward was way ahead of his time. Dior shot from Selectism

The Legend of Torrey Pines

Forget Bagger Vance, given the circumstances, this is probably the best round of golf ever. Tiger hasn’t played golf in 3 months, he looked like his knee was bothering him more than Willis McGahee(yuck) and he was using his driver as a cane. Going into the last 6 holes he was trailing by 5 strokes, 2 eagles and a birdie later he’s winning. A finish like this compels me to say that this is the best performance from the most dominant golfer ever… but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

Ikea NYC Pop up Apartment

With a new Ikea branch set to launch in Brooklyn, NYC, Ikea has taken advantage to do some great advertising. They constructed a pop-up apartment that looks like a big box from the outside, but it contains a 20” by 20” studio apartment, complete with all the trimmings. The label reads “unpack June 18″ so I would assume that is when the store will open up for business. Ikea is not new to good advertising methods, but I do really like this approach to get a buzz for the Brooklyn location. Read more

Dante Ross asks You…

“In reflecting on the culture which we live in, the community’s in which we participate in and the playing field’s that we work in I say we all need to ask ourselves this question and gut check ourselves internally. It is an age-old question one that is almost rhetorical.
DO YOU GIVE BACK TO THE CULTURE WE ALL EXIST WITHIN OR DO YOU TAKE FROM IT PERPETUALLY?

I know where I stand on this issue and I believe everybody has there own line in the sand when it comes to co-opting and monetizing the cultural movements that we tend to coexist within.

My thought is when you have a few moments to reflect put your self, your career, your motivations and your wants out of life to the side for a few minutes and think this one through it will raise your personal level of consciousness I believe and may allow you to look at the big picture if only for a brief second.
If you cant wrap your head around this thought than your walking through life with blinders on and for that I truly feel sorry for your missing out on the greatest gift you have which is:
The ability to raise the world’s collective unconsciousness and actually making your immediate social and cultural scenes a more enjoyable journey for all.”
FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

Liz Hickok: Jell-O Artist

We all know everyone loves Jell-O, how couldn’t you? But making art out of it just takes this love to a whole new level. San Francisco based artist Liz Hickok is a Jell-O artist, and for her latest project she is making a replica model of San Franisco’s Mission District. Current_ has a video on the artist, check it out here

Every sneaker store needs this bearbrick in the window… Wear a sock kid, No raw dogs!

Tokyo Flooded

Here’s another nice little track bike video titled, “Tokyo Flooded.” Some ill styles over a nice jazz beat. I guess it’s a bit hard to time those red lights in Tokyo with 100, 000 pedestrians using the cross walk at once. Watch it here

Vancouver Shred Session

Some of the Vancouver fellows recently put together a little “Skate Sundays” video. You can catch some Livestock and GDFT crew members reeking havoc on innocent pedestrians before they head to the park where they belong! Just kidding, makes me wish I skated enough to do a tenth of what they are. Instead I just watch here
