R.I.P. Luc Bourdon

Luc Bourdon was killed today in a motorcycle crash in his native New Brunswick. He was one of the Canucks and Canada’s brightest young defencemen. He was only 21, far too young to die. My respects go out to all his family and friends.

50 Cent aka Screw Face Fity

There is all sorts of wrong/funny going on in this new G Unit video. First off I dare you to find a frame where Curtis isn’t mad doggin’ the crap out of the camera. Not to mention it gave the guys at Nahright.com a seizure, this video is retarded - in a bad way. The good thing is the new G-Unit spring line is ill. It looks like they took a slimmer, more authentic approach to the military look, and killed it. Check out the video.

Snkr Frkr Brisbane Shoe Swap

My first post on h(y)r collective took me too long. I’m always down under, but I was recently down at the Sneaker Freaker Shoe Swap in Brisbane. There were lots of collections out on display; shops, people, and shoes. It was pretty packed on the mean streets of Bris but all was good on a nice sunny day for sneaker connoisseurs. Not too much I really got excited about though. Check out the coverage on SNKR FRKR.

Restaurant Report: Amuse

I know a lot of the readers don’t spend much time on Vancouver Island, but there are enough of you in and around BC, Canada, to let you know about this restaurant. Amuse was opened just off the shore of Shawnigan Lake, by Brad Boisvert and his partner Leah Bellerive. It is a French Bistro-style restaurant located in a modest house. They really focus on using seasonal veggies, fresh meats, and cheeses from local farmers, so it may be the freshest menu around as well. Between the small homey space and the great service, you might get to hear Brad tell you about one of his recent camp outs for asparagus. It is a great dinning experience. Unfortunately my photos didn’t turn out so great, but I would recommend Amuse as probably the best restaurant on the Island. If you’re over here, it’s a must. The word has gotten out so call for reservations on weekends. Read more

Fix - Push

This is really funny. Watch it.

Kanye is funny

Kanye just posted this on his site today saying, “I bet you people think this is what I do in my apt. lol!”  Yes Kanye, it is and it’s great. Watch it

Vic Photos: Bike

Heres a couple more flics I took yesterday on a bike ride. I haven’t actually put up any shots of my semi new frame yet, so here it is. Although it is still just a road frame, it looks pretty fresh for an oldie. Click the Pic for full affect.

Kane, Thought, Common, TI

Thought I would just share one of my favorite performances in hip hop. I was watching the show when this came on, and definitely caught some spinal chills at a couple points. Some great MC’s paying homage to probably the greatest.

Lakai WTWTA

Its been a long time since I last wore a pair of Lakai’s, they were my staple shoe back in the day. Since then I’ve pretty much grown out of skate shoes. Children’s literature on the other hand, ish dont think so. As an homage to my childhood (and my mom) I have to post these. Where The Wild Things Are is probably my all time favourite kids book and now it’s been immortalized on shoes, awesome. I can’t wait for the “Love you Forever” and “Mortimer” Robert Munsch pack…

Take a Seat

I’ve been getting more interested in some of the furniture design lately as I am trying to learn a tiny bit before an article I’m working on. I came across this chair today and I like it. Maybe it has to do with the photograph and the texture of the wood floor beneath as well, but I think this would make a pretty solid patio chair.

Everybody Nose Remix avec Mr West, Chilly Willy, Neighborhood P, Lu

This is a heater. I guess thats what happens when dope artists are on tour together and Pusha T comes by to say, “Ugggghckkkk.” I highly recommend liking this song. Kanye + Pharrell + Lupe + Pusha T = Next Level. Come on mayne. Listen via Kanye

More Photography: The Manipulator (Jill Greenberg)

The chances are you’ve seen some of her work, covers of TIME, Culture + Travel, Los Angeles, and the list goes on. Jill (The Manipulator) has shot celebs galore; Larry David, Chris Brown, Steven Colbert to name a few of my favorites. Her really amazing work however is the shots of the monkeys and dogs. She manages to personify the expressions on the animals faces and with her incredible amount of detail and photoshop skills, the images are unreal. It’s definitely worth going through her portfolio a couple times. Read more
