Weekend Recommendation: Exercise

A lot of us spend a lot of time in front of computers, in stores, drinking coffee, maybe riding a bike on occasion, but we probably aren’t getting enough exercise. Healthy body, healthy mind, right? I know I personally feel a lot better if I could for a run, do some sit ups, or play some ball. These activities are easy to not find time for, however they are just as essential as a pair of grey wool slacks and boots this fall. I really find that keeping a good exercise routine helps keep your mind fresh, and your body feeling good. Unfortunately over the last few weeks I haven’t been staying up and a couple days ago I started feeling really bogged down. Two days ago I went for a run and worked out and I feel fresh again, no extra sleep, still have tons of work to stress about, but I feel better. I guess that this again comes back to the post about time and time management. It’s easy to let the days events swallow you up, so it’s necessary to make time for yourself.

Moncler Fall

Outerwear and ski slope legend, Moncler has released it’s fall line now. The brand has built an aura and feeling about it that is very hard to do. Years of high quality, European dedication, and a real authentic begining have helped create this incredible line. We’d seen some of their classic looking down jackets with the flashy red, yellow and blue finish, but I’m definitely more into this toned down gray jacket. I haven’t been up in the hills enough lately but picking up a Moncler piece would probably compel me to definitely make the two hour drive.  This navy blue jacket is also fairly appealing as it would be an easy wear in the city. The line is consistently quite amazing, of course the quality and name is reflected in the prices. But hey, you get what you pay for.

Filson Tin Cloth Duffle

Most people are quite familiar with Filson’s vast range of hunting and fishing gear that has managed to cross over into the fashion world. The high quality and fair price of the items, along with a classic, clean, timeless aesthetic have made them more than ideal in today’s market. The price for some of the larger bags can still run up to nearly $300 which can be hard to swallow. I came across their most basic package of Tin Cloth bags recently and was happy to see the lower price. The Tin Cloth Duffle only costs $135 and is meant to carry shooting and field gear, so you know it can manage magazines, laptops, and sweaters. The bag seems to be just a little more stripped down and basic, less pockets, less bulk, but I actually like the look of these handles and shoulder straps a bit more I think. Whatever the case, it’s another nice duffle back, for a slightly better price. Available at Filson.com

Thanks Michael Jordan

I went to Nicekicks.com today looking for news, and came across an article I didn’t really expect to see. It was a thank you to MJ for the memories as sports fans and sneaker heads. 10 years ago today was Jordan’s last shot against the Jazz that iced the game while wearing the XIV’s, since coined “The Last Shots.” I don’t know if they do these kind of articles regularly but I really like it. It’s worth a little read, and the photo is great as well. Thanks to Nice Kicks for saying thanks to MJ.

Nike 1/1

Nike 1/1 is a relatively new program that embraces and promotes every ones favourite thing: creativity. It’s an opportunity for anyone and everyone to create and show their work alongside the worlds best. People from all over submit their art (through any medium they want) in hopes of being selected as a finalist for a final exhibit. One winner is chosen to design product for Nike. With the European Cup set to kick off next week, the theme this year is the Art of Football. As well, to coincide with Nike’s Be True campaign, the winner will get to produce a series of limited edition dunks. The concept behind 1/1 isn’t exactly a new one but it is still a good one. I think it should happen far more often, especially after seeing some of the submissions. Check them out here.
