Word from the Wise

Jeff Ng has been added to the Arkitip Intelligence blogroll if you aren’t a regular over there. If not, you should be, there are some cool artists and creative people giving some insight into their work and lives. Anyways Jeff recently posted about how to save time. He had found a list of things and then added in his experiences and how they relate to him. There are some really valid points and it’s interesting to read through. A lot of us could use more time, so making the most of the time we do have is obviously pretty crucial. I like his work pattern of sleeping in and staying up late, I can relate to that one among others. I would have to say that TV is probably one of the biggest wastes of time possible. Anything worth watching you can generally find on video, on the Internet, or even in a podcast. You can check out what else he had to say here.

Liveblock Party ‘08

Livestock has been throwing some pretty serious block parties the past couple years. They block off all of Abbott St. in Gastown, where the original Livestock resides, and get quite live for the day. With a notable list of Vancouver’s top record spinners, sponsors, give-aways, and hopefully some good weather, it’s definitely going to be a good time. The event was bigger than ever last year, but this one is promising to top it again. September 14, 1-7pm. Abbott  St. There’s going to be a dance contest, probably some kind of skate contest, BBQ, beers, and probably me.

Everybody in Beijing

There are a lot of people in Beijing generally, but there are a few extras right now getting ready for Nike’s big re-launch and re-brand its recently undertaking. It should be a pretty interesting event. Nike obviously is the best, they know what they are doing and where they are going. Even though we get fed up with wack shoes and lame product in our shops sometimes, they are still the Kings. The put out great things seasonally for every market. Anyways, I’m a bit jealous that I couldn’t be apart of such an event, but the time will come we will get to a hyr level soon enough. Pictures from INQMND and Eddie Cruz. Read more

Flyer Than The Rest of Them…Chopsticks

These things are dope. I eat a fair bit of food with chopsticks, sometimes the sticks suck, sometimes they work okay, but these are serious. Metal, ergonomically shaped eating tools are cool, they even come with a nice resting piece which is good because I’m often unsure where to situate my sticks mid-meal. They slide into the plate or they fall on the table. Now they got their own place and for $35 bucks these utensils could have their own place, in my place.

Head Porter Lunchbag

One of the new pieces from Head Porter is their new lunch bag. Its ideal for bananas, big sandwiches, your water bottle, yogurt w/ yogurt utensil. Everybody’s eatin’ these days so why not smash fools on your lunch break with the latest offering from Head Porter. You can put your utensils or juice boxes in the smaller compartments as well if thats what you drink. Oh ya…it can also be used for DJ equipment too, records, cds, and stuff like that if you want. Inqmnd Update

Inquiring Mind is like the big brother I’ve never met. I have to give these guys some serious internet/blog daps, they definitely inspired and influenced me in doing h(y)r collective. Their website IS the nicest on the internet. I have seen no other site that uses Flash so well while providing great content every time. They have been doing it for a minute - I’ve been reading since back in the day when it was still an ugly blog. Now it is the premiere online magazine. Their latest issue tells story of Tinker Hatfield, Zeb and Nomad in Toronto, and a few other nice pieces. This site is more than worth checking out. Great work Michael Bercasio and Inqmnd.
