Stussy x One Warm Coat

Stussy has joined with One Warm Coat this winter to help out the less fortunate with some warm winter gear. It’s definitely something I know I often neglect due to getting wrapped up in trying to finance some new boots and shirts while eating well and sleeping in a warm bed. But there are a lot of people out there who could really use the help and I think it’s great of Stussy to help out. You just have to bring in any lightly worn jacket to any of the Stussy Flagship stores and you get 15% off a new jacket. Canadians can join in now in Vancouver and Toronto, Americans have more options, Washington DC, LA, Philly, get your old jackets out and get a new one. Win win.

Been Busy

Sorry for the lull in blog posts the last couple days. I’ve been quite busy the last week getting issue 7 finished and published, finishing a school project and Saturday we we’re shooting the look book for Jonathan+Olivia most of the day. Everything sort of culminated down to a couple days. So my girl came for a visit and I have been trying to clear my mind, reorganize and get things in order to get back on attack. I should be able to get back on thangs today tomorrow so you don’t have to worry about finding another blog just yet. The photo has nothing to do with the post other than it was taken last week while I was rushing between the Stussy store, school and a quick meeting. I had to stop as the colors seemed really nice and once I looked around a bit more I realized how nice out it was. i guess there is something to be said for that smelling the flowers saying. So don’t let issue 7 pass you by, take your time and read it.

Stussy Vancouver Open Today

Just in case you forgot, I thought I’d let you know again. Stussy Vancouver is opening today with some special edition Vancouver Stussy Tees, the highly sought after Nas T and some nice fall Deluxe pieces. I dropped by the shop yesterday and it was looking very fresh and woody. Andre Pinces photos have been printed in large format and should be looking really fresh for the opening as well as for the party tomorrow night. Definitely make your way down if your in Vancouver and support the latest Canadian branch.

Penfield x St. Alfred

In the midst of the work/outdoor wear ‘revival’ we’re seeing right now, Penfield continues to stay relevant in today’s crazy market of here today gone tomorrow trends and lines. This time they’ve teamed up with Chicago boutique St. Alfred to make a nice clean lightweight down puffer. I actually like the jacket quite a bit, but at the same time I’m disappointed. The projects they’ve done in the past with the likes of Stussy, Wood Wood and Alife were all so much better. Slapping a chest logo on the most plain coat in Penfield’s arsenal seems almost like a waste of time. Hopefully the rest of the Fall collaborations turn out a little more intesting.   Read more

Stussy Vancouver

The new website just launched today as I’m sure a lot of you blogger readers have seen. I wanted to mention it because I’ve actually had the opportunity to work on it, a couple of the shots I took out at the Mill and in the space are in chapter one and I’ve been working with Mark Gainor on chapter 2 over the last week or two. The shop is looking nice inside already. It’s been a fun project and I was happy to be able to be apart of it. Take some time to read through the site and enjoy some of Andre’s photos.

Stussy x Brooks x Wilson Bros Saddle

This is pretty much a straight heater. I love white bike seats to start off with, although mine has since turned more of a denim stained white, they look amazing and accent anything white on the rest of the bike. No need to get into the quality and style of Brooks saddles, but then mix in the Wilson Bros who I believe put together that really dope AF1 Nike track bike. Stussy manages to bring the best of all worlds together, whether it be art, skate, street or bikes. It’s an incredible company that has really been able to do a lot of positive projects around the world. This is just another example of what they can do, which is anything. Check out the box, damn. I wonder how many Stussy spots are going to get these.

Rip Zinger @ Stussy Vancouver

While the Vancouver Stussy location in in the middle of it’s transition from Boneyards Concept store to west coast flagship, Matt George and the United Front crew are opening up the space to showcase the Rip Zinger book release. There will be a party Saturday, September 20th in the 49 Powell location and the space is open for the whole weekend to check out the book and and the photos. Stussy is no stranger to putting on good events so there should be adequate beers available for those who drink them. Not long after we should see the launch of the Stussy Fall line, including the anticipated and most extensive Fall Deluxe line.

Neighborhood @ The Darkside Initiative

Neighborhood has been killing it lately. Their version of the Adidas a-ZX shoe is definitely in the top 3 and the Boneyards collaboration with Stussy has been a huge success world wide. Now it’s time for their own Fall line, a bunch of which is set to be released tomorrow at San Francisco’s Darkside Initiative. The technical apparel of the ‘Dirty Harry’ series is a pretty mixed bag of goods from incense to 3/4 length jerseys. The two standout pieces in the collection are the black quilted messenger bag made in collaboration with Porter (obviously) and the 14oz jeans. Raw denim is waning a bit these days in my eyes and the look and quality of these is more appealing to me than say PRPS or alike.

Fall Stussy @ Haven

While people seem to be previewing Stussy’s fall T-shirts, Haven has already received their first fall shipment of Stussy. They have a couple T’s, three new flannels, and some toques. The flannels are all good patterns with a nice use of color. For the price, I find Stussy to be the best bet on flannels. They do seem to have varying fits throughout the slightly different models, so I recommend trying them on. For $80 bucks you definitely get a really good quality shirt that looks good. Stussy have been making flannels for a couple decades so they have a good idea what they are doing. Haven will also be receiving the fall Deluxe line which has some even better pieces to look forward to. It should be shipping in early September so it should be in shops in a month from now.

The Perfect M-65

Doesn’t exist. I’ve been searching. Now that fall is coming soon I’ve started looking again, but there aren’t any signs yet. There is always something wrong. The length, the color, the branding, the zipper, material, pockets, and of course the price. I’ll admit there that is a lot of elements to get right all on one jacket. I’ve owned a couple but have never really been satisfied. In the past couple yeas I’ve seen good versions by Stussy, Perks and Mini, WJK, WESC, Visvim, but there is always something that doesn’t work for me. I’d be interested to hear if you readers out there have found your prize?  WJK and Visvim have made a couple of my favorites but the price is high and they are really difficult to come by. This season I’m hoping I might get lucky and stumble upon my grail of an M-65 jacket. I think black, perhaps a waxed cotton, thick silver or copper zipper. Duel flap pockets on the bottom, one chest pocket on the right side only. Adjustable sleeves, and a string to pull the waist tight for a fitted look. Is that too much to ask?

S/Double: Shawn Stussy

Shawn Stussy was captured wearing these new joints at the recent Vans Event. Shawn Stussy, the man behind Stussy, left the company years ago and word has been getting around that he is up to something new. S/Double is his new line and these shoes are the first products to be seen from it. They look like they are taking some inspiration from the Adidas Attitude. Unsure if these will even see release or if S/Double will be a clothing or footwear line. All I know is it should be something interesting to watch unfold, there is going to be a lot of hype behind this one. Info:BeingHunted Read more
