Redwing Peco Boots
These are a model of Redwing’s I’d honestly never really considered even putting on. My friend mentioned them awhile ago when he was looking to get a pair but I didn’t pay them much attention. The description in my head sounded bad, and really, how do you rock these? The look really fresh in the Inqmnd Buyer’s Buyable, on and off the model. So are they a legit boot to pick up this fall? You could definitely wear the hell out of them and not do any damage, although that goes for any Redwing’s pretty much. I think I could only really wear these if I spent a lot of time chopping wood in the forest and was really tired of tying up shoe laces. However, while I don’t think I am about to buy the Peco boots, I am not disliking them, just not my top choice for me right now.
S2W Russell Moc Boots
Another spotted item on off one of the last Secret Forts ‘head to toe’ posts is these awesome blue suede low top boots. Taking a close resemblance to Redwing and creating a more urban friendly cut and a nice color was a good idea. I really like the dark blue and white soles together but what really sets them off is the slight brown ridge on the mid sole and the white stitching. It seems like James at Secret Forts has a nack for finding a few of his items at Japanese shops that love American style as I was again send to a web store with great products that I couldn’t read. They also carry Wings+Horns, Engineered Garments and a few others so if you missed out on an item here, you might still be in luck here.
J Crew x Redwing Collection
Most people that are Redwing or J Crew fans are aware the two companies linked up this season for a nice collaboration but if you’re like me, then you probably don’t know what all that entailed. I actually just saw pictures of the high Irish Setter model and thought it was cool. There are actually several other models that J Crew brought back with Redwing for the fall. There is a more chunky classic boot, a distressed mid height boot, Iron Rangers and an 899 boot. They are all quite nice looking to me. I think I like the 899 maybe the most, as I’m more inclined to the Redwing Gentlemen’s Traveler these days. None of the models are cheap, but surely all well made and a boot your likely to have around for the next decade.
Redwing Round Toe Workboot
As Redwing puts the pieces of the puzzle together slowly and realize the market they can actually be making some money from, we being to see more and more of their models slip into some of our favorite boutiques. Although the Gentleman’s Traveler and the 875 are the most popular Redwing boots among the aesthetically driven, there are some alternates like this round toe work boot that would also offer a stern foothold in the urban environment. I’m still not sure how Redwing has been able to formulate the best colors for boots and never strayed from the basics. I mean they never even ran the Easter color way once. The worn browns, light khakis, and deep cherry colors look and age amazingly on the Redwing products. I definitely think these are an essential piece for a mans wardrobe. I’ve been enthusiastically encouraging my friends to get some, and now it looks like there is another good model to choose from. Available at Oi Polloi.
Acne Jeans Low Wedge Boot
Fall is around the corner which likely means precipitation and an accompanying dip in mercury. Acne Jeans has made a pretty awesome looking boot for the shorter, darker days ahead. Their low wedge boot has a strikingly similar silhouette to the Redwing 875 with a bit of a tweak. The added stitching, use of lace hooks over eyelets and the green laces make them stand out from your typical work boot. The colour is the best part though, a sort of washed greenish-grey suede it looks like. Boots always seem a little dressier to me, so the hint of colour helps keep them a little more casual. Perfect for raking leaves in the yard, or for a night on the town.

Boots I Like
It’s nearly boot season. On any given day in Canada it can be boot weather, but only a couple months before fall is in full swing, your feet will need full protection. I have a feeling a lot of ’stylish’ people are going to be on the boot tip in the next few months, so here’s a few models that I’m liking right now. There aren’t really any surprises on the list unfortunately. All classics, brands I regularly mention, styles I could wear all day long. I probably could have dug deeper to find something to wild out with but these five boots found me quickly. I went with the classic Redwing 875 that I own, Alden’s tweaked Indy model, A.P.C.’s fall military boot, Band of Outsiders’ Sperry boat boot, and the Common Projects officer boot. I am also a sucker for sneaker-style boots so I had to slip in a ringer with the Nike Baltoro. Sometimes you need to get live with some colors, the Baltoro is the boot for that. These are all available at their respective brand outlets as far as I know. See the rest after the link.
Irish Setter Crosby Upland
This is definitely a hot fall/winter jacket by Irish Setter. Sometimes when the weather is rough, you need something that’s built for the elements but you can’t give up to much style for function. Irish Setter was originally an off-shoot line from Redwing but now holds it’s own as an independent line. Not necessarily intended for the fashion world, Irish Setter pieces are made with use in the field in mind. Whether it’s hunting, fishing, trekking, or going for coffee, the Crosby Upland jacket would definitely suffice. I’m personally a fan of the symmetrical pockets and zippers along with the color choice. I’m really liking browns and khakis so this jacket gives me what I need, plus a little splash of color on the shoulders. The best part of this jacket is that it only runs you $149 US.

Redwing Boat Shoes
Redwing still confuses me, they are from the U.S.A, they are made in the U.S.A, but they are far more popular in Asia and also have dope models only found in Asia. The Wahbasha boat shoe collection is named after a small river town where the shoes are probably used. I really like the sand color way from Redwing, they seem to have no outer branding as well which is always a bonus. The quality has to be pretty good, so the only thing wrong with these is that they are made to sell in Asia. Redwing seems to be getting smart to the North American demand within the fashion market, so I think we’ll be seeing a flood of their products in the next year. That means it will be up to you to make them look better then the next man. Info from Selectism
A.P.C. Boot
You’re going to need one or two pairs of good boots this winter. It’s essential. Whether you get down with some of this seasons A.P.C.’s, Redwings, Visvim, whatever. There are tons of different styles to pick from, so it’s not hard to find a boot that suits your particular look. I stepped up my boot situation last fall/winter but I’m still searching for a good militant looking boot like this new A.P.C. model. However I’m also unsure about the all black body with an all black sole. I think for me it makes the boot almost too dressy looking. Boots are good footwear to let your colorful sock poke out of as well so it would be easy to lighten up the all black with some color if need be. I think I hear a ‘Boots I like’ post on the way. Redwing Back to N.A.
Redwing has been around for years but with the recent popularity in work wear inspired fashion Redwing has jumped right into the mix. They have been hitting in Asia for the past couple years. Ransom picked up the line last year and brought it back into a boutique setting and now Redwing is bringing their full range, or the best of it, back to North America for our wearing pleasure. There are a couple nice new models along with the classics. Redwings are definitely some of my favorite boots and they are holding up really well. Not that I’m on the physical grind all that much these days, but I have put some work in on them and they are looking even better. I would say these are a must have for next winter.
