eBay Find: Vintage Nike Duffle

This bag is something serious. Vintage Nike leather Ping duffle. It looks really dope, pretty much a perfect gym bag. Best part, other than how dope it is, it’s still under $30 bucks. eBay is incredible for finding items you never thought you would or ever knew about. eBay is definitely the best when you aren’t looking for something specific I find. If you get too specific then you won’t find it, you need to just browse with an open mind and something will pop up. Anyways, I didn’t even know Nike had made such nice leather products like this, it’s amazing to see their range and where they are now. Nike is one of the true innovators of the human race and obviously along with the technology and push into the future, they have a strong, classic history, which you can purchase second hand for a good price.

In Marcus Troy’s Bag

Fellow blog grinder and entrepreneur, Marcus Troy is next up on the bag feature. The entries are definitely interesting to check out, some funny items, some really dope I wish I had in my bag, Marcus is packing a mask and gloves to bust slugs fortunately for us, it’s still One Love. Mr. Troy kept the descriptions pretty minimal but there are some items worth paying attention to - chargers and balaclava.

Books, MacBook, Canon camera, Magnum condoms, Apple and Canon chargers, iPhone, headphones, gloves, jacket just in case you never know, M-65 Nike Tech pack, passport and passport holder, iPod touch, Mont Blanc pen.

Boneyards Terminator @ The Glade

The Nike Terminator from the Boneyards pack was probably one of the dopest pieces from the collection. The black/blue color way is pretty hot, but I already have the black/blue 1’s so I was more drawn to the all black model. The Terminator is a shoe I’d always wanted to pick up over the last few years. It just never came in a good color or I couldn’t find the right size. Although I probably wouldn’t be wearing these all too often I still do have a love for sneakers, and I do think these are a very good shoe. I’m assuming they have sold out in most locations, but they are still available at The Glade.

Boots I Like

It’s nearly boot season. On any given day in Canada it can be boot weather, but only a couple months before fall is in full swing, your feet will need full protection. I have a feeling a lot of ’stylish’ people are going to be on the boot tip in the next few months, so here’s a few models that I’m liking right now. There aren’t really any surprises on the list unfortunately. All classics, brands I regularly mention, styles I could wear all day long. I probably could have dug deeper to find something to wild out with but these five boots found me quickly. I went with the classic Redwing 875 that I own, Alden’s tweaked Indy model, A.P.C.’s fall military boot, Band of Outsiders’ Sperry boat boot, and the Common Projects officer boot. I am also a sucker for sneaker-style boots so I had to slip in a ringer with the Nike Baltoro. Sometimes you need to get live with some colors, the Baltoro is the boot for that. These are all available at their respective brand outlets as far as I know. See the rest after the link.

Nike Sportswear Marketing

Nike is a smart company, they’ve been doing a relatively great job advertising their brand over the years. Now it seems with their new wave of evolution, they have finally embraced the blog world. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen Nike Sportswear features, interviews, and product updates from Inquiring Mind, SlamXhype, Hypebeast, and Highsnobiety. The big boys. Nike flew them out to the events in Portland and Beijing in the past six months. Nike gave interviews, photos, and blog posts, increasingly over the past few months. Now Nike Sportswear are running blog advertising campaigns on Hypebeast and SlamXhype. Although I don’t know how much they are paying, it is interesting to see Nike finally perusing this avenue of ads. Fortunately for these blogs it improves their branding as well, as they don’t have Kool-Aid and Fake Jordan’s ads filling their banners. Win-win? I think so.

Nike Loopwheeler

Nike’s onslaught of incredible work leading up to the Olympics has been nothing less than amazing. The array of products offered in the new Sportswear campaign is probably the most impressive collection of athletic garments in the history of human existence. The culmination of technology, tradition, execution, and years of research have shown the world a glimpse at how far ahead Nike really is. One of my favorite pieces within the offering is the collaboration with Japan’s Loopwheeler. The series of sweaters and shirts are a great example of the mix between the past and the future. The pieces are made ’strand by painstaking strand, the bespoke fabric is fettled using a primeval Japanese knitting machine that operates so gloriously inefficiently, it takes over an hour to produce a mere metre of material. The end result is a supernatural softness that is as uncanny as it is extraordinary – think of it as high-end fashion, slow-cooked for the proletariat.’ - Sneaker Freaker. Nuff said.

SlamXHype ‘New Order’

I’m sure many of you have noticed the serious revamping over at SlamXhype a couple days ago. Now along with the site’s redesign, Adam and James have started a monthly publication within the website called ‘The New Order.’ The periodical will cover fashion, art, design and anything else the SlamX team feels they should cover. In the first issue they did an extensive look at Nike, the Sportswear division, the Loopwheeler collaboration, and the Olympic influence. There is a fair amount of content to get through, but there are some good product shots, and a chance to get to hear from some of the most innovative minds behind the Nike camp. Although ‘The New Order’ might need some redesigning to help out with navigation, it is well written and the new site overall looks quite good. Give it a read here.

I Do Love Sneakers: Infared 90

For all air max/sneaker heads the Infrared 90 is no doubt one of the best shoes out there. Since their initial release they had just been retro’d a couple times, most recently back in 2004. Those are the joints I picked up and have worn for the past couple years fairly regularly. This year Nike has done up the classic Air Max 90 in three versions for you sneaker copping/drooling/wearing pleasure. The latest model, the 90 Current, samples from Nike’s Sportswear technology and updates the shoe with the Free sole. This is definitely for the OG guy who has the originals and is open to the future of sneaker design. I really like the new model, but I find the toe cap area does like a little odd when it’s on your foot. For those limited edition fiends there is also now the Deluxe Infrared. Croc skin and premium leathers hold this one together. I wouldn’t expect to see these around too often and probably worn even less. Then for all of those people who haven’t picked up a pair of Infrareds over the last decade, there is the original, basically. The Quickstrike of all quickstrikes. Every friend of mine who has got into buying more shoes then they need, I’ve strongly directed them to the infamous 90. It’s a necessity. Even if you don’t find yourself wearing sneakers too often, you need the Infrared 90. It will always look great for a trip to the grocery store. Available at Haven.

Nike Free Hybrid Boot

These are hot. There aren’t a ton of Nikes I would be that excited about rocking right now, but these are some of them. They definitely bare some aesthetic similarities to some Visvim models, but with Nike’s Free sole they might be just as good. I love the feeling of the Free sole, it’s one of the lightest, most comfortable things I’ve ever walked on.  These Hybrid boots are super clean, really good color, and seem to have a great overall shape and height. I’m really excited about trying to track a pair of these down if possible. They are starting to show up in Asia now, so hopefully they make their way over to North America in the near future. Good job Nike, good job.

Food for Thought: Seasons

Today my RSS feed told me that Journal Standard, a random Japanese lines/shop I’ve been following lately, has released some new goods. None of it was particularly interesting or appealing except for maybe this pullover 3/4 collared shirt which is pretty crazy. That’s not the reason for this post though. In seeing this new stuff, I had a Seinfeld-esque epiphany. What’s the deal with seasons? … Read more
