United Front: Hypebeast Essentials
Speaking of Nomad, Hypebeast’s latest series of Essentials features some of the United Front’s top players. Jesar, Oliver, Matt, and Paolo let us know what “their” essentials are. I put the “their” in quotes because it’s not really their personal picks, but their personal picks from stuff in their stores. Everything chosen is available right now in either Ransom, Nomad, or Goodfoot, so if you want to make their essentials, your essentials, it’s relatively convenient to do so. Although it’s a bit funny, it’s not a bad thing. All the items are good, ranging from Neon 95’s, to face wash, to Wings+Horns Dayton boots. The United Front is so strong, partially because they really act and function as a team. They work hard and help each other out, and really keep a lot of business flowing through the internal fam. So it’s not surprising to see their picks turn out this way. You know when HB hits me up and I have to say my essential daily blog I hit up for the hot ish, it’s h(y)r collective yo!
Nike Sportswear Marketing
Nike is a smart company, they’ve been doing a relatively great job advertising their brand over the years. Now it seems with their new wave of evolution, they have finally embraced the blog world. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen Nike Sportswear features, interviews, and product updates from Inquiring Mind, SlamXhype, Hypebeast, and Highsnobiety. The big boys. Nike flew them out to the events in Portland and Beijing in the past six months. Nike gave interviews, photos, and blog posts, increasingly over the past few months. Now Nike Sportswear are running blog advertising campaigns on Hypebeast and SlamXhype. Although I don’t know how much they are paying, it is interesting to see Nike finally perusing this avenue of ads. Fortunately for these blogs it improves their branding as well, as they don’t have Kool-Aid and Fake Jordan’s ads filling their banners. Win-win? I think so.
Hypebeast - Canadian Love
More Canadian talent showcased for you, Hypebeast just put out their latest edition of ‘Essentials’ featuring western Canada’s biggest players in retail. Haven, Livestock, Foosh, and Roden Gray are represented by their owners/buyers/creative directors give a nice simple run down of what’s needed in their everyday lives. Unfortunately they managed to fulfill a Canadian stereotype of liking Tim Hortons. Although Tim’s is not bad early in the morning on the way to a ski hill, as much as I like to deny it, it’s very Canadian. Once again, I like to see these pieces showing a more personal side of people who are the face of fashion/retail in Canada. Hypebeast is doing a good job in diversifying their content with some interesting pieces.
