Engineered Garments @ Den
I don’t know why I didn’t blog about this when I first read it. Then I thought since it’s already been blogged, I’m over it. But I’m not. Odin is definitely one of North America’s most impressive boutiques, mimicked across the continent and now overseas. However due to their location, they can do what others never will be able to with the Den. Now that those Common Projects are finally out of there, Engineered Garments have moved into the tiny retail space for the next couple months. Engineered Garments has done a great job of resurrecting work wear and re-appropriating it for today’s modern fashion world. The Den is a great place to showcase some of the lines top items and really give the consumer the feel and attention the line deserves. Although I’m thankful for being able to check out the Common Projects occupancy, I do wish I was going to be able to spend some time in with the new inhabitants.

Colored Common Projects
I had seen some Common Projects that weren’t the usual white, grey and black colourways. But I thought those reds and blues were limited to the leather court and Achilles models and only available at Den. Then I discovered these 3-hole laceless versions for sale at South Willard in LA. I think that the canvas laceless shoe works much better with colour than their leather counterparts. There is just something undoubtedly tacky about red leather to me. The simple silhouette of the slip on with the extra hit of color make for a great casual shoe with a ton of maturity still. Read more
Den: Common Concept
Den in New York is an extension of the Odin boutique, it is a small little space that only shows one designer at a time. They just opened up the space for the latest collection, and to my very pleasant surprise, it’s Common Projects. The space provides a place where the complete seasons offerings can be viewed and purchased, along with one of a kind models and colors. The Common Projects footwear will fill the space until mid-August which means I’ll be able to check out the location while one of my favorite footwear companies are occupying. I think the concept is great, the execution seems great, and the designer list is great, including Tim Hamilton, Rag and Bone, and Robert Geller.
