Mjolk F/W

Back when I was in New York for Capsule, we first got a chance to met Lars, the designer of Mjolk. He was one of the most friendly, interesting guys we came across on the trip. We met up with him for an afternoon cocktail and talked about his experiance as a costume designer, studying in Japan, and of course designing and producing Mjolk. There is a real genuine passion and talent that comes through the collection, from the footwear to the bespoke shirting to the beautiful leather bags, Mjolk has become one of my favorite collections to look at. Although the spring collection is up on the website, we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves. Here’s a look at some of my favorite looks from the fall collection.

Capsule TV: April 77/YMC
Here’s another video interview from Capsule by Cator Sparks. This time he briefly talks to April 77’s Bryce, and PR man Joe, who handles YMC and Rag and Bone among other menswear labels. There is no sign of anything under anybody shorts this time around, which is okay with us. Capsule was such a lively atmosphere and positive show, there is no doubt it will only grow in Paris and New York. It’s good to hear from some of the designers and managers from the lines and see how their perceive the North American market today, and where they are taking their lines. April 77 seemed to be getting a lot of love from buyers I spoke with in NYC, so it will be interesting to see if that transpires into seeing the line around more in the near future. Thanks to We Are The Market for the link. Watch the video here
Capsule TV: Our Legacy
I just came across this video from Capsule and now you are. Cator Sparks, freelance writer, interviews our friend Jockum from Our Legacy and hits him with some good questions about his shorts and what’s under them. Apparently Jockum is going to show him later, classic Jockum if you ask me. For the rest of you in the unknown, there’s an educational tidbit, Stockholm is in Sweden. Capsule was definitely a good time thanks to BPMW. I’m looking forward to next year’s event and meeting up with the Our Legacy fellows to catch up after their North American infiltration. Check the video here.
Our Legacy S/S ‘09
Our Legacy just finished up the second leg of the Capsule shows in New York yesterday. After lots of talk, a bit of press, and some positive feedback, they are ready to take over the North American market. Although it will be one store at a time, Our Legacy blew everyone away at Capsule this week. The line was outstanding piece to piece. There isn’t a weakness to be found. Button downs, oxfords, chinos in perfect colors in the right washes, classic denims, really nice sports jackets, and denim shirts. Right down to the tags and the unique photo-format look book, Our Legacy really mad a great impression. It was the first time I had really been able to look at the full line. As O.P and I flipped hanger after hanger, we pretty much agreed that we would be happy if the line supplied our closet for the next 20 years. This fall will be the first North America will really get to see from the line, but spring 2009 will be a big season for the Stockholm natives as they move north of the border and open up several more doors which will be keeping you updated on in the near future.
Thanks to Dejour
While I stayed in Toronto for a couple days last week I obviously needed a place to stay. I wanted to give a quick thanks to Kyle from Dejour Magazine who put me up on his couch. It was fun checking out Toronto and meeting some new people. He has been putting together a string of parties in his place which should be pretty good. Toronto is definitely a different feeling city than out west. It’s pretty big, but not a mass amount of stuff to cover. I meet some very hard working people as well which is always a little inspiring. Now that Capsule kicks off today, Owen and I will have a lot of work to get down between polishing up the latest issue for the August 1st drop, and managing our time between Capsule, interviews, showrooms, and shopping. Be sure to check back for updates from the trade show for the rest of the week.
(capsule) neighborhood network
With Capsule set to go down in New York next week, the progressive agency behind the show, BPMW, are doing something a little extra. BPMW is definitely a unique agency from the work they do in PR, the brands they represent, their trade shows, and their events. Now to get the word bumping about their latest show, a bunch of the brands and shops involved in show are putting on some small sales, having bbq’s, and providing some adult beverages. The idea is pretty cool, getting people out in the streets, whether or not you’re attending the show, the folks at BMPW/Capsule have you covered. Highlights are sales/drinks at Reed Space and a free lunch at Save Khaki.
