A.P.C. Footwear SS09

A.P.C. is without doubt one of my favorite brands. From their outerwear to their candles and olive oil, I’m a fan. One of my favorite components is their footwear. Although this fall was a bit weaker than last spring, it still had a good pair of military boots and a solid sneaker. The moccasins really couldn’t compare to those of Mr. Diamond however. For this coming spring we’ve already heard a lot about the Nike collaboration but I’m a bit more excited about these derbies and leather boat shoes. The brown leather derbies are definitely going straight to my ‘things I want list’. The also are offering a nicely stripped down boat shoe in navy and in leather with a chunkier sole. I’m sure their boat shoes are going to be very nicely made and feel solid, but I can’t imagine they will be that much better than what Sperry has available, so those aren’t getting me too pumped. The rest of the spring collection looks really nice and includes some good denim tops and a great looking varsity bomber.

I absolutely love the deck shoe on the boot sole. I recently did something just like that in my line.

I am working hard for my readers…pure reconnaissance. I had to swipe a catalog, then use my portable scanner (dslr), photoshop and there you are….just for you, just on h(y)r collective.

word but i hear apc has slashed their prod quality a fair bit in exchange for higher margins.

Very weak in my opion - dunno why you guys gettin so hyped over these … I mean those derbies have got nothing on Rahel Comey or Opning Ceromony’s latest - the sole on those boat shoes look hideous and are just plain wrong and as Ryan said why wouldn’t you just cop some sperrys there classic and probably half the price.

With regards to the derbies, these are far more classic and practical looking then anything Rachel Comey or Opening Ceremony has made this year. All three make beautiful derbies. Owning a pair of Comey, the shoe definitely takes a more modern and narrow fit on the foot, it’s not a derby I like to wear everyday. Opening Ceremony’s are just a little too trendy looking for me, and picking them up in the store do not seem like they’d last the wear I’d put them through. Getting back to the topic, these APC ones look very practical and I can see them looking beautiful once some wear has been put into them.

Yeah, the derbies are going on my wish list for 2009. I love their rounded curves, their slim sole and their rich colour.

The thick sole deck shoes are strange but I have a feeling, like a lot of A.P.C items, they will grow on you in time and once used to them, you will fall in love with them.

what I like about the deck shoe is the white sole, and if I wanted a classic version I would go to Sperry for it as I have often done. sometimes a fresh white sole is what’s best in the spring.
