h(y)r views: Kyle Morrison of Dejour
This week we linked up with Kyle while I stayed in Toronto. We asked him about throwing parties, his favorite lines for the fall, and what he’s listening/watching.
1) How’s the business of partying?
The business of partying is amazing. I always have the most fun at my parties. I love that I am able to cultivate a scene that allows me and my friends to have a good time and not worry about all the hassle that comes with going out. Although the parties get pretty big it still feels like a community of like-minded creative individuals
2) What did you learn this week?
I’ve learned to believe in myself. I’ve realized that I am lucky to have a circle of friends and that we can do big things. I finally feel confident in doing things(parties/events/magazine stuff) without bringing people in and like to keep it all in the family.
3) What’s your favorite line for this fall?
I haven’t seen everything yet but I am consistently impressed with Our Legacy and this season is no exception. Everything is classic, refined and subtle. I gravitate to the same brands every season though and band of outsiders is doing it for me as well
4) What song can’t you get enough of?
I just dj-ed a smiths night so I was digging deep into side projects and stuff like that and I have been playing “getting away with it” by electronic non stop. It even features a rare Johnny Marr solo.
5) Best movie you’ve seen lately?
I recently tracked down a copy of Glenn O’Brien’s “Downtown 81″ which is this crazy movie featuring Jean-Michele Basquiat. It’s not a bio picture but a really good depiction of the downtown New York no wave scene in the early 1980s.
